"Hiromi" and "Moon" complete!

The two dolls that I have been working on are finally just about done, Hiromi is on her way home and Moon is just about ready to leave :).

They were a blast to work on, it was really nice to have one very natural girl and one wild girl to work on simultaneously!  I never felt burnt out or in a rut with either girl since I had such a fresh perspective as I spent time on each design :). I have learned a lot and grown a little more confident with these two girls done, and I am very much looking forward to my next batch of visitors!
Hiromi for Elizabeth!

Moon for Natalie!:)

New custom spots filled, some still available! :)

Just making a quick update for my blog!  I have had little burst of custom activity and interest this week, so I thought I'd update my waiting list!  I still have spots open if anyone would like a doll customized! :)  I should be receiving face plates/doll heads from @blytheknits and @elizabeth_joan this week, can't wait to get started on those dolls and update my portfolio with a couple pretty new faces!!

Also, this little bit of spring magic arrived this week!  A custom my Chantilly Lace/Kate Hardin, I have been calling her Lotus…

Disney Animator Doll collection begins...

Another exciting dolly addition to the family this week, my first (two!) Disney Animator Dolls.  For Valentine's Day, I got my 4 year old daughter a very adorable Rapunzel DA doll, and when she arrived I saw how adorable she was an immediately hopped back on Amazon to order myself one!  I ended up with an Elsa DA doll, and I am in love with both of them!

As you can see, I already dove into customizing with my Elsa (who I named Briar).  It was my first time working with vinyl, and the whole make up removal/addition process was fairly drama-free.  I look forward to working on more DA girls in the future, and building up my own little collection of these cute (and reasonably priced!) cuties!  I am planning on ordering Princess Tiana and Pocahontos in the near future :)

Busy busy busy! (Hello Kenner, goodbye Delta...)

I have been such a naughty blogger!  Many wonderful dolly related things have happened in the past few weeks for me, but I have neglected to make any updates!  I'll try to cram it all in here...

So, probably the most noteable news would be the extremely exciting addition of a vintage Kenner blythe doll to my personal collection!!  I have been blything since 2012, and ever since my first big headed girl came to me, I have yearned for a Kenner blythe, a little piece of history, the first of what has become a long line of beautiful plastic muses.  I have seen a few in person, at Blythecon 2013 in NYC, and once at a small impromptu blythe meet, but I have never had the honor of calling one mine.  Granted, the girl I nabbed off if EBay is missing an authentic body (minor details!), she is in otherwise in wonderful shape, with a full head of blonde plugs, intact make up and lashes, and a beautiful working eye mech with crystal clear eye chips :)

There she is, in her vintage plastic glory!! She should be here by early next week, I will certainly be stalking my poor unsuspecting mailman until she is delivered :). I have a few names in mind, but I'll have to wait until I see her before I go lizard one...

Also, my first legit custom that I made for the purpose of rehoming found a new dolly family this week :). It's a good feeling to have someone like you're dolly art enough to want to bring her home!  Safe travels, Delta💕

2/3/15

So upstate New York has been thoroughly buried about 4 times over in the past week and a half or so, my what a strange and late winter were having!  That groundhog can go f*ck himself!!

I am eagerly awaiting a package from Thailand, a fresh tbl to hack into, and it should be here by tomorrow... I have a few nice concepts for the doll already envisioned, but I want to see her in person before I make my final decision about the direction her look will take :). And I have pretty much decided after this TBL, I am going to try and stick with as many authentic takaras for customizing, as I feel a little weird supporting the "fake" market, as lucious as their hair might be :/. But on the same token, I feel bad removing what was once a nice stock blythe from circulation :P decisions, decisions!

Anyway, got a cute pocket mirror from Mab Graves today, and still chugging along with my Blythe a Day 365 challenge :). I'll be sure to update when my doll arrives!

Super Bowl Sunday!

I'm not a crazy sports fan, but I still get pretty excited about the super bowl, mostly for the excuse to gorge myself on wings and pizza.  And today is no exception!!

While we waited for the game to start, I showed my 4 year old "My Neighbor Totoro" for the first time ever.  Over all she enjoyed it, but being the sensitive gal that she is, a few of the sad moments got to her :/ it's still one of my favorite movies of all time, second only to "Princess Mononoke", but I'll have to wait until she is a little older until I unleash that incredible (but more mature) film on her...

I also made it outside for a brief day light dolly photoshoot!  The morning was quiet and the snow was pristine...

And finally, I am going to attempt Thai Peanut chicken in the crock pot for the first time, wish me luck!  Happy Super Bowl everyone!!

1/29/15

A chilly update NY day today!  Dealt with fish deliveries and cricket deliveries at work, and I am glad to have a tiny bit of down time before I go get baby coffeedove from school and head to my mother's place for pulled pork and wine😍

I stopped by Hobby Lobby on my lunch to rummage through their clearance goodies, and found the most perfect little bench to display the dolls on☺️. But now my dolly diet truly begins until I get my tax returns back😝. I am thinking about adding another doll to my personal collection as well as getting a few TBLs/inexpensive FBLs and RBLs for customizing.  I saw a few pictures of Ashley's Secret, and for some reason she totally surprised me with her charm!  I find her buttery yellow hair and elegant stock pretty wonderful for how cheap she is, so she might be coming home in the next few weeks...
Also I have been drooling over Toysfield Kuma and Usagi dolls, and one might have to squeeze into the dolly shelf as well....

Anyway, that's enough daydreaming about toys, here's the awesome bench from today, modeled by Meadow😍

Working on Poe, custom #10

So my first (practice!) commission doll arrived a few days ago, Poe the SBL pow wow poncho from @blytheknits of IG.  Very exciting and a little intimidating, as I have never worked on another persons doll before, and I was terrified of breaking something!  But she came safe in the mail, and I got her apart with ease (due to being preopened by @blytheknits, thanks!), and I got to dive right in!

@blytheknits and I had agreed upon a nice general idea for her final look, but she gave me a lot of "artistic freedom" which was nice, I was able to try and come up with a nice design myself and focus on refining skills in customization areas I want more experience with.

It was neat to work on something other than the FBLs and recent releases I have been used to, the SBL def had a softer feeling plastic to carve, and a much different "look" all around, I feel she is a much more mature looking doll than cherub faced FBLs.

I'm still tweaking the chalk pastels here and there but I feel she's coming along nicely!

Free Customization service info!~

Today on my IG account I announced an offer to provide free customization services (carving, chalk pastels, spraying, etc.) to a few followers who had a baity doll waiting for a make over!  Two generous followers offered to bring their dolls to the chopping block, @blytheknits and @waniejayadi, and I agreed to do some pro-bono work for them to help build my dolly portfolio!  I am very excited to have some fresh plastic to dive into, and I will be sure to update with progress pictures as the dollies roll in!  Excited for this new project! :D

Introduction...

Hello wonderful guests!~

I am @coffeedove from IG and flickr, and I wanted to try and throw together a nice place to organize my dolly, art, and general life adventures.  Mostly this will center around my Blythe doll obsession, and my work related to said amazing dollies…

I have been collecting since 2012, and currently have 5 Neos and 1 middie, I love customizing them, crocheting them wee hats, and participating in "A Doll A Day" 365 day photo challenge.

I'll be sure to add more when I suck less at blogging!~

Thanks for viewing!
